Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-10-20

NeoPapyrus (the “Service”) takes your privacy seriously. This policy explains what information the Service collects and how it is used, stored, and deleted.

Information we collect

Account: email address (optional — you can use the Service as a guest without signing up). Profile: nickname and an optional avatar image. Service data: your library, reading records, reading sessions, notes, and goals — the content you create. Automatically collected: error-diagnostic logs and largely non-identifying usage analytics events (device type, app version, etc.).

How we use it

To provide the Service (sync and backup), diagnose errors and improve quality, analyze usage, and respond to inquiries. We do not sell or share what you record in the Service (library, reading history, notes) with third parties for advertising. There are no ads in the Service today; if we introduce them we will tell you before they go live — what would apply is written out in the “Advertising” section below.

Processors and international transfer

We rely on the following processors — Supabase (data hosting and authentication, Seoul region), Sentry (error monitoring), and PostHog (usage analytics, United States). Each processes data only to provide the Service.

Location

We use your device location only when you tap “Libraries near me”. Korean library holdings can be queried only per district, so we send coordinates rounded to roughly 10 m to V-World, the spatial-information open platform of Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and receive only province and district names. No account identifier is sent with the coordinates, and neither the coordinates nor the result is stored. Location is never saved to your profile, and you can use the same feature by picking a region manually without granting permission.

Retention and deletion

When you request account deletion, your account and content are permanently deleted after a 7-day grace period. Information subject to legal retention obligations is kept for the required period and then deleted.

Your rights

You can view, edit, and delete your information at any time in the app settings. For other requests, contact us below.

Advertising (only if ads are turned on)

⚠️ There are no ads in the Service today. The following takes effect only when we turn ads on, and we will tell you in advance through an in-app notice. ① What kind of ads — convenience features (barcode scan, sentence scan, card sharing) have a daily limit, and if you choose to watch an ad you get one more use that day. Ads play only when you tap the button; we do not use banners or interstitials that cover the screen. ② No personalized ads — we do not provide ads based on your behavioural data (interests, tendencies, usage history). Ads are requested as non-personalized, which means your reading history, searches, and note contents are never used to select an ad. ③ What the ad provider receives — the advertising identifier your device provides, device/OS/app version, approximate location at country or region level derived from IP, and whether the ad was viewed or completed. What it does not receive — account information such as your email or display name, and none of your service records (library, notes, reading sessions, searches). Even for non-personalized ads the advertising identifier is used for frequency capping and invalid-click prevention; the ad provider (Google LLC, United States) processes this under its own responsibility and we neither collect nor store it. ④ Consent in Europe — in the EEA, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland we show a consent dialog the first time you try to watch an ad, and we do not show ads without consent. We ask for consent even for non-personalized ads because serving an ad requires storing and accessing an identifier on your device, which itself requires consent. You can change or withdraw consent at any time in the app under Settings → Ad consent settings. The consent record is kept by your device and the ad provider, not on our servers. ⑤ We do not track you — we do not combine identifiers across apps or websites, so we never show the iOS App Tracking Transparency prompt and never request or use the IDFA. ⑥ How to opt out — watching an ad is entirely optional, and you can use the main features (book search, manual entry) without limitation if you never watch one. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings, and the paid membership (Plus) removes both the limits and the ad offers. ⑦ Children — the Service is not directed to children under 14, and we do not request child-directed ads.
