Terms of Service

1. Purpose
These Terms govern your use of NeoPapyrus (web and mobile, the "Service"), a reading-log service.
2. Definitions
1. "User": anyone using the Service under these Terms, including guests. 2. "Guest": a user accessing the Service via an anonymous on-device session without email sign-up. 3. "Content": anything you enter or upload — your library, reading records, notes (title and body), collections, tags, comments, reactions (likes), images. 4. "Public content": content you set to public so other users can see it. Both book-linked notes and personal notes unrelated to any book can be made public by you. Visibility is chosen per note and defaults to private. 5. "Reaction": a like (heart) or similar mark other users leave on public content. Reaction counts are shown alongside the content to everyone who can see it.
3. Changes to the Terms
We may amend these Terms within the bounds of applicable law. Changes are announced at least 7 days before taking effect (30 days for changes unfavorable to users). Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance; if you do not agree, you may stop using the Service and delete your account.
4. Accounts
1. You may sign up with an email or use guest mode. Guest data is carried over when you sign up; if the anonymous session is lost (device change, app uninstall), it may be unrecoverable. 2. You are responsible for keeping your account secure and may not transfer or lend it. 3. The Service is not available to children under 14 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction).
5. The Service
1. The Service is currently a free beta. We may add, change, or discontinue features; material changes will be announced in advance. 2. If paid features launch, pricing, billing, and refund terms will be separately disclosed and consented to. 3. Book metadata (covers, bibliographic data) is sourced from external providers and shown as-is; accuracy and availability are not guaranteed. Rights in such metadata belong to the respective providers and rights holders. 4. We may temporarily suspend the Service for maintenance, system failure, or force majeure.
6. Your content
1. You own your Content. 2. You grant us a non-exclusive license to host, store, back up, display, and process your Content as needed to provide the Service. Public content may be shown to other users and surfaced in discovery features. 3. You choose visibility per item and can switch anything back to private at any time. While an item is public, its title, body, tags, your display name, and its reaction counts are visible to other users and may appear in in-service search and listings. Switching back to private removes it from public surfaces going forward, but does not recall what others already viewed or saved. 4. You must hold the necessary rights to anything you upload (including import files and images) and must not infringe third-party rights.
7. Community rules
You must not: infringe others' rights (copyright, privacy, likeness); harass, defame, or post hate speech; post sexually explicit, violent, or illegal material; spam or advertise; disrupt the Service (automated scraping, exploiting vulnerabilities, evading rate limits); impersonate others or misuse accounts. Public content is additionally subject to our Community Guidelines, published separately.
8. Reports and moderation
1. Users can report public content. 2. We may hide violating content from public surfaces (it remains visible to its author), lock threads, restrict a user's public activity for a period (private records and reading remain available), or terminate accounts for serious violations. 3. You may appeal any moderation action via the contact below; we will review and respond. 4. Moderation actions are recorded in internal audit logs.
9. Termination
1. You may delete your account anytime in settings. Deletion can be cancelled within a 7-day grace period, after which your account and Content are permanently deleted per the Privacy Policy. 2. We may restrict or terminate accounts that materially violate these Terms, with prior notice (or prompt notice afterward in urgent cases).
10. Disclaimers and liability
1. The Service is provided "as is". During beta we do not guarantee data completeness or uninterrupted operation; please use the export feature for important records. 2. We are not liable for damage caused by force majeure, your own fault, or failures of external providers, except in cases of our willful misconduct or gross negligence. 3. We are not obligated to intervene in disputes between users or with third parties, except as required by law.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea; disputes are subject to the competent courts under the Civil Procedure Act.
